Ping GMax Graphite Irons 5-PW

In the GMax iron, Ping have engineered their longest iron through COR-Eye Technology, a revolutionary design that increases face flexing for faster ball speeds across the face to generate incredible distance. The wide sole design positions the CG low/back to maximize forgiveness. Progressive lengths and lofts are optimized for efficient gapping with the distance control and high trajectory you need to hit and hold more greens.

Technology

Distance is generated from greater ball speeds created by the simultaneous activation of the sole, face and top rail. This produces more face flexing to spring the ball off the face up to 3 mph faster than previous PING models.

A new cavity structure houses a concealed Custom Tuning Port that connects to the sole. With this deeper position, each iron's center of gravity is moved lower and farther back to increase the moment of inertia for extreme forgiveness and higher-launching results.

Sole Geometry, GMAX iron weighting illustrationSole Geometry

The wide sole design locates the center of gravity to maximize forgiveness, leading to more-accurate irons shots that launch higher and land softly to hold greens. The sole geometry reveals an enhanced leading edge, more trailing edge relief and refined bounce to optimize turf interaction.

In the 4 thru 6 irons, lighter swingweights help square the face at impact, creating faster ball speeds and straighter shots.

Shafts.

Selecting the proper shaft flex for your swing will help you get the most distance and accuracy from every shot. Generally, players with faster swing speeds require stiffer shafts to keep the ball trajectory lower, while players with slower swing speeds will require more-flexible shafts to produce a higher ball trajectory.

The choice of  shaft type is usually based on preferences for weight and/or feel. Players seeking a lighter overall weight and/or a softer feel in their irons may prefer graphite shafts, while players who prefer a standard-weight club with a firmer feel may prefer steel shafts.

We can offer you full advise on the most appropriate shaft for your game.

Grips

PING offers a variety of grip sizes and styles to fit different hand sizes and texture preferences. Since grip size influences your wrist action, and therefore the direction of your shots, it is commonly used by fitters to affect ball flight.

PING color-coded grips are available in six different diameters, and can be further customized with grip tape according to your needs. Once the neutral grip color code has been determined based on hand measurements, golfers may consider smaller diameter grips to help control fades and slices, or larger diameter grips to help control draws and hooks.

As with shafts we can advise you on the best grip size for you.

Ping GMax irons are available from 4 iron through to Sand Wedge.  Our most popular set make up is 5-SW, but you are free to chose the combination of irons best suited to your game.
